Tuesday December 2, 2003. Writing: Yesterday, on rec.arts.sf.composition, I asked what impression people got of the speakers from this bit of dialog:

"Some of them aren't human."

"The forms which ask about blood types will have to be revised, then."

Most responses said that the second speaker could be either someone who believes that forms are really important, or someone with a certain sense of humor. Which is useful information, because I intend him to be both.

Today, I got a fair amount written. I'm not sure how much of it is outline, and how much is first draft.

Cookery: Four chicken leg quarters broiled. Three with different Penzys non-salt spice mixtures. One with ginger. Table condiment: lime juice.

Mail: Einblatt!; Mnstf's monthly newsletter. Sponsored by DreamHaven Books, who had a flyer attached. I hadn't expected to get a print copy again; Mnstf had started charging for it, and I decided the email version would do me fine.

From the UK edition of Google News:
India Jobs Shift Is Way of the World, Says Blair
The Scotsman - 2 hours ago
The UK's biggest insurance firm today announced plans to cut 2,350 jobs and export work to India, sparking fury among workers but only a few words of sympathy from the Prime Minister.
Aviva sends 2500 jobs to India Financial Times
Aviva Insurance plans to hire in India Seattle Post Intelligencer

On one hand, Blair's reaction makes sense. On the other hand, it's not what I'd expect from the leader of something called the Labour Party. Rather like a Republican politician displaying the Confederate flag....
