Thursday April 1, 2004. On rec.arts.sf.fandom, someone asked why he hadn't seen any April Fool posts. I suggested that perhaps people were too depressed about this year's Worldcon being cancelled.

To Pillsbury House, where I totted up figures for a Community Barter Network quarterly report. CBN accounting is being transferred to a program which can do this, rather than it being done by hand.

LiveJournal typo of the day: "TV reality shoes".

Mail: Midwest Mountaineering's Outdoor Expo schedule, April 23-25. If the bus strike hasn't been settled by then, I probably won't attend. But it feels wrong to skip it because I would have to hike there.

Autism gene found
Researchers at Mount Sinai School of Medicine are first to strongly link a specific gene with autism. While earlier studies have found rare genetic mutations in single families, a study published in the April issue of the American Journal of Psychiatry is the first to identify a gene that increases susceptibility to autism in a broad population.
